Bag’in is a Scandinavian-developed solution for protecting and storing outdoor furniture, designed for a climate where rain, moisture, pollen, wind, and rapidly changing weather conditions are a natural part of the season. Unlike traditional furniture covers, Bag’in combines reliable protection with ventilation and a more refined aesthetic, helping preserve outdoor spaces both functionally and visually.
Outdoor furniture and textiles face some of the toughest conditions. Weather leaves its mark—often long before summer is over. And as outdoor living areas become more carefully designed and cohesive, the shortcomings of conventional solutions become increasingly apparent: covers that flap in the wind, tarpaulins that trap condensation, or storage options that solve one problem while creating another visually.
It is within this balance between functionality and design that Bag’in has found its place. Developed in Scandinavia, Bag’in is built around the demands of a climate that places high expectations on materials, durability, and ease of use. Today, Bag’in is launching internationally through Bagin.com, but the idea remains the same: to protect outdoor furniture in a way that works in practice while feeling like a natural part of the outdoor environment.

An Outdoor Space Used More Than Ever
“Today, the outdoor living space has become an extension of the home, and people are investing more in both quality and design outdoors,” says Hugo Reed, Managing Director of Bag’in.
He points out that wear and tear is not limited to the winter months. Throughout spring and summer, outdoor furniture is continuously exposed to rain, dirt, pollen, UV radiation, and fluctuating temperatures. At the same time, many homeowners lack both storage space and practical solutions that make it easy to protect furniture between uses.
This is also why the company is now placing particular focus on Bag’in Classic. The collection has been developed for the time of year when Scandinavians actually use their outdoor spaces the most—when weather conditions change quickly, and the need is not necessarily long-term winter storage, but a solution that can be used on a day-to-day basis.
“Bag’in Classic resonates because it has been designed specifically for the way we actually use our outdoor spaces in Scandinavia—actively throughout spring and summer, with constantly changing weather conditions,” Reed explains.
He describes Classic as a premium outdoor furniture cover created for everyday use: easy to place over furniture when a sudden rain shower arrives, when pollen settles as a fine layer across tables and cushions, or when protection is needed overnight. Just as importantly, it is equally easy to remove again when the sun returns.
Perhaps it is in these small, recurring situations that a product either becomes part of everyday life or remains merely a good idea. According to Reed, the strength of Bag’in Classic lies in its ability to combine practical simplicity with a refined and understated appearance.
When Practicality Must Also Be Beautiful
For interior designer and television personality Halvor Bakke, who serves as a brand ambassador for Bag’in, outdoor living is about more than furniture alone. It is about atmosphere, cohesion, and solutions that make it easier for people to actually use their outdoor spaces more often.
He believes that while many people pay close attention to interior design indoors, they are often less consistent outside. If an outdoor area is to feel like a natural extension of the home, it must be treated as a room in its own right—with careful consideration given to materials, colours, textiles, lighting, and functionality.
“The most important thing is to think holistically. Many people are very good at designing their interiors, but outdoor spaces are often treated more randomly. If you want an outdoor area to feel complete, you need to approach it the same way you would a room inside the home,” says Bakke.
According to him, when outdoor spaces receive the same level of attention as the rest of the home, they naturally get used more. It should be easy to step outside, sit down, and feel that everything is ready. That requires furniture and accessories to be tidy, accessible, and protected. In his view, practicality is an essential part of the overall experience.
This is also why he believes that practical outdoor solutions cannot simply be functional necessities without aesthetic value. They are visible, they occupy space, and they influence how the outdoor environment is perceived.
“A practical solution doesn’t become less visible simply because it’s practical. In fact, it can often have a significant visual presence. That’s why I believe functionality and aesthetics must go hand in hand,” Bakke explains.
In Bag’in, he sees a product that aims to achieve exactly that. Not by turning storage into a focal point, but by giving it a design that complements its surroundings rather than competing with them. Clean, understated, and versatile—whether placed on a city terrace, at a cabin, or in a larger garden setting.

A Scandinavian Design Philosophy with Global Appeal
According to Reed, Bag’in’s international expansion is rooted in an experience that has already been thoroughly tested in Scandinavian conditions. The product was developed for a climate defined by moisture, cold temperatures, and rapidly changing weather, yet the need it addresses is far from unique to the Nordic region.
“What sets Bag’in apart is that it is more than a traditional furniture cover. It is a thoughtfully designed, ventilated storage solution that protects against rain, UV exposure, condensation, and temperature fluctuations simultaneously,” says Reed.
He points out that similar challenges exist around the world, albeit in different forms: intense sunlight in Southern Europe, heat and exposure in coastal regions, or significant temperature variations in other markets. For that reason, he believes the Scandinavian foundation behind Bag’in has clear international relevance.
“Our ambition is for Bag’in to establish a distinct position as a premium Scandinavian quality brand within outdoor furniture protection and storage,” Reed explains.
Bakke also believes that part of the product’s appeal lies in what he describes as a distinctly Scandinavian balance between simplicity, functionality, and design that avoids unnecessary complexity.
“The most Scandinavian aspect is the combination of simplicity, functionality, and a design language that is not overworked. We are good at creating solutions that are practical while still being beautiful in a subtle and understated way,” he says.
Perhaps that is why Bag’in resonates as something greater than a solution to a seasonal challenge. Not as a dramatic innovation, but as part of a more conscious approach to living with and caring for the things we own. As outdoor spaces become a more integral part of the home, it also becomes more natural to protect and maintain them while they are being used—not only when the season comes to an end.
