Short answer: you do not need a shed. Pack your garden furniture in a waterproof, ventilated Bag'in where it stands, on the patio or balcony, and leave it outside all winter. It takes 15 to 20 minutes, and the furniture is ready as soon as spring arrives.

In flats, terraced houses and small gardens there is rarely room for a whole dining set or lounge set indoors. The answer is to leave the furniture where it is, well protected.

How to store furniture outside without a shed

  1. Wash and dry the furniture completely before the first frost.
  2. Bring cushions and textiles indoors. They take up little room in a cupboard or under the bed. See how to store garden cushions over winter.
  3. Lay the base on a firm surface, at least 20 cm from walls and railings.
  4. Stack tight and low, heavy furniture at the bottom, around 90 cm high. Stackable chairs save a lot of space.
  5. Pull the top cover over, zip it up, tighten the drawstrings and lock the zip with the carabiner.
  6. Anchor it with Storm Anchor if the furniture stands on decking and is exposed.

Tips for balconies

  • Check the rules of your building or housing association. Some have rules about what can stand on balconies.
  • Place the bag against the house wall, with 20 cm of air, sheltered from the wind.
  • Keep the drain clear, so water and meltwater can run away.
  • Avoid the edge of a high balcony, where the wind is strongest.
  • Brush off snow after heavy snowfall. Read more about snow on garden furniture.

More than furniture

Nordic also fits a barbecue, bikes and a lawnmower, so all your winter kit can stay outside in one place. E-bikes, e-scooters and anything else with a battery should not be stored outside.
