Below you'll find our best tips and tricks for where to place Bag'in, how to stack outdoor furniture, plus advice on keeping the furniture cover in good condition and packing it up in spring.
Really Easy to Use
Fighting with tarps and ropes just before the first snow falls – we dare say few look forward to that. Maybe the best thing about a Bag'in is that it's quick and smooth to pack up, and you can easily do it on your own.
Step 1 – Unpack
Bag'in comes in two storage bags. The black bag contains the bottom part, the white contains the top part.
The very first thing to do is choose a suitable outdoor location. Wooden terrace floors are optimal. If you have a stone patio, it's important to place Bag'in where the ground slopes so water can easily run off. It's important not to place your Bag'in on grass or soil, and not under a pitched roof where snow can fall from.
Also make sure the surface is even, without broken wooden planks, screws, or nails that can damage the underside.
Now it's time to place the bottom part on the floor or ground and then stack the furniture on top. The red arrow on the bottom marks where the two parts will connect – it's a good idea to place this part where it's easy to access the furniture.
Step 2 – Placing Furniture
To get a quick overview of how much space you'll have in your chosen Bag'in, we recommend starting with the largest furniture. Make sure the furniture is dry when you pack it. To use the space optimally, you should stack smart and ensure the furniture stands stable against the base.
Another good tip is to stack furniture in a way that lets water and snow run off naturally. All our Nordic Bags have a water column of 20,000 millimeters and handle a good rain shower, but if water sits in pools on top of the fabric, it will eventually seep through. We therefore recommend building a peak on top of the furniture so water and snow can run off naturally.
Tips: Make sure the smallest possible surface lies against the bottom part and never place tabletops against the bottom as this can prevent Bag'in's ventilating properties. Avoid storing cushions and other items that can't handle winter cold inside your Bag'in.
Step 3 – Put on the Top Part
Pull the top part over the outdoor furniture and make sure the red triangle on the top meets the red triangle on the bottom. Make sure the top doesn't get stuck anywhere. If the fabric becomes too tight to close easily, you've packed too much furniture.
Step 4 – Connecting Top and Bottom Parts
The top and bottom parts connect with a zipper. Lifting the protective edge when attaching the zipper prevents it from getting stuck. Avoid using force – the zipper is good quality and should glide easily.
Make sure the ventilation channels aren't covered and are positioned downward so water doesn't enter the openings. At the bottom and middle of Bag'in, you can tighten the drawstrings so the fabric encloses the contents further. The straps in the corners can be attached to our safety anchors if your patio is exposed to strong wind, or if the outdoor furniture is very light.
What You Shouldn't Store in Your Bag'in
The furniture cover itself is designed to withstand all weather conditions, but that's not necessarily the case for the furniture and items you want to store inside your Bag'in. Inside the fabric, both temperature and humidity will vary depending on the weather outside, which means these products aren't suitable for storage in Bag'in:
- Wooden furniture
- Cushions and pillows
- Rugs
- Glass sheets
- Pots that can't handle cold
- Plants
Now you and your outdoor furniture are ready for autumn and winter, but there are still things to consider during the autumn and winter months and before unpacking the outdoor furniture in spring:
1. Remove Water Pools Regularly
By shaking off water pools from the fabric after heavy rainfall, you ensure your Bag'in lasts longer, while the bag dries significantly faster.
2. Cleaning Before Packing Away
When spring sun finally reaches us after a long autumn and winter, it's time to set up the patio again. It's likely that both dirt and leaves have collected on the cover during winter.
Rinse the cover and use soap if needed, for example mild soapy water like green soap. Let the cover dry in the wind or hang it up so it's completely dry before packing and storing it.
3. Packing Away
- Place the top part of your Bag'in somewhere on the terrace where you can stretch it out completely flat.
- Fold in the sides so the fabric forms a square shape.
- Use the storage bag (the white one) as a measure so you can see how much you need to fold the fabric to fit in the bag.
- Fold and roll the fabric as tightly as possible so it fits in the storage bag.
- Repeat the same procedure for the bottom part of your Bag'in.
